School Holiday Moves

Tuesday 15th April

Youth Moves 12+yrs up to 25yrs FREE! 11-2pm

Albany Contemporary Dance alongside Albany Youth Support Association present Youth Moves.

Step into a world of movement with our Youth Moves Project. In this dynamic workshop with Sym, youths will dive deep into how dance can reflect personal experiences, emotions, and the journey of self-discovery. We will be using a contemporary dance style, with participants guided to create their own choreography, drawing inspiration from their own stories and imaginations. This is an opportunity to express who you are, connect with others, and explore how movement can tell your story!

Alongside the movement workshop, we will be designing and creating costume ideas, plus creating a costume prototype. Looking at colours, fabrics, ideas, styles, and upcycling op shop finds.

The workshop includes: dance warm up, creative movement improvisation, development of choreography, cool down, discussion and design of costumes, and hands on making. We welcome ages 12 -25 and all abilities. Any dance experience from none to lots is great as you will be making the choreography!

This workshop is free, but you still need to book in, as we have limited capacity. Please be mindful with your booking and cancel if you can't make it.

Wednesday 16th April

Major Project Taster 11+yrs 12-1.30pm $35

Want to have a taste of what we do in our Project classes? This is where the magic happens! We learn how to choreograph, using different ideas, prompts and guides to create movement phrases.  This is the class to let your imagination run free and to express yourself through movement. Learn one of the dances we are performing later on in the year!

Wednesday 16th & 23rd April

Adult Moves – Adult Ballet

April 9.30 – 10.30am $20 for 1 class, $32 for both,

Our weekly open ballet class continues with Sym in the school holidays. Suitable for adults & seniors, for those who have danced before.

Thursday 17th April

Little Moves 3-5yrs 9.30 – 10.30am $20

Young dancers will enjoy free face painting & learning basic ballet and jazz moves. Dance Teacher Jessica encourages creative expression and exploring the dance space with free play.

Junior Moves 6-10yrs 11-12.30pm $35

Dancers can choose to get their face painted, then we get stuck into making a simple dance outfit ready to wear in our lyrical dance workshop with Jessica & Sym.
