School Holiday Workshop - Pen and watercolour maps
Event description
School Holiday Workshop
Pen and watercolour maps
Wednesday 9 April, 10-11AM
In this session, kids will check out the intricate and detailed maps and drawings of exhibiting artist Simeon Ayers in his exhibition in the Simpson Gallery.
Simeon creates maps and landscapes using pen and watercolours. His work ‘is an attempt to make sense of the world… the unseen and magical.’ He walks, listens, and observes the country and remembers its colours, sounds and shapes, or its hidden pathways.
Participants will begin with viewing the exhibition before making their way past the lake to the workshop space. We will listen, see and imagine pathways and what this particular place map would look like. In the workshop we will use black pen to draw the details of these imagined maps and then add watercolour to define the different elements of the drawings.
Ages: 5-12
