School Holiday Workshop | Birds of Wangaratta
Event description
Join us here at the gallery these school holidays for a workshop inspired by our current exhibition, the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award 2025. Taking inspiration from the artwork Mirrigimpa (sea eagle) by Elisa Jane Carmichael, participants will use air dry clay and assorted natural and man-made textile materials to create a tiny bird sitting in its own nest.
Your chosen bird might be one of Wangaratta’s many beautiful native birds that live in your garden or the nearby forest or one that flies over the Ovens River to a high nesting spot, or it might be an imaginary bird with wild and colourful feathers, or it might be a bower bird.
This will make a fun little decoration on the windowsill that will be admired by the birds in your garden, and the nesting material can be recycled for a real bird to use for a new spring nest.
$10. All materials provided. Suitable for ages 6 +.
