Event description

🧵 Tote-ally You: Sew Your Own Tote Bag Workshop

Workshop Duration: 2 hours
Age Group: 10+ (Tweens)
Cost: $35 per participant

A hands-on sewing workshop that’s as fun as it is practical — perfect for creative tweens!

In Tote-ally You, participants will dive into the exciting world of sewing and sustainable creativity by designing and stitching their very own personalised tote bag. This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to build practical skills, creative confidence, and a sense of achievement — all in a fun, supportive environment.

Whether your tween is completely new to sewing or already loves to craft, they’ll walk away with real skills and a one-of-a-kind tote they’ll be proud to carry.

🪡 What They’ll Learn:

  • Intro to sewing machines: How to use them safely and confidently

  • Simple pattern making: How to measure, mark, and cut fabric for a basic tote bag shape

  • Upcycling in action: Choosing and reusing fabrics creatively, either from our curated collection or by bringing fabric from home (old shirts, pillowcases, or fun fabric scraps work great!)

  • Basic machine sewing techniques: Including straight stitching, seam finishing, and topstitching

  • Bag construction: Assembling and sewing a fully functional, durable tote

  • Personalising: Adding optional pockets, embellishments, or fabric paint to make it truly their own

🧷 What’s Included:

  • Access to sewing machines and all necessary tools

  • A wide selection of upcycled and new fabrics to choose from

  • Expert step-by-step instruction in a small-group setting

  • Time and space for creative customisation

  • One finished tote bag to take home and use proudly!

This is more than just a sewing session — it’s a chance for tweens to build independence, express themselves through design, and learn about the value of upcycling and slow fashion.
