    Event description

How do science and art connect? How can we use art to start conversations about environment, climate change, and the wonders of nature? Can an artwork shape our world view?

The 2024 Waterhouse Natural Art Prize exhibition is perfect for students of all ages to develop skills within the Critical and Creative Thinking and Ethical Understanding capabilities and the sustainability cross-curricular priority. You can visit the exhibition at the South Australian Museum from Friday 12 April – Monday 10 June 2024.

Since 2002 the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize has called for established and emerging artists to turn their gaze to the natural world. Named after the South Australian Museum’s first curator, Frederick George Waterhouse, this biennial prize recognises the long-running interplay between scientific research and the creative arts, from the illustrators and sculptors who help to describe and depict specimens, to contemporary artists who invite us to think about our environment and our impact on the natural world.
