Event description

This International Women's Day Canberra Museum and Gallery is celebrating women in STEM with a very special in-conversation event with Katherine Bennell-Pegg, the first person qualified as an astronaut under the Australian flag. This is a truly unique opportunity for students to meet and hear Katherine speak about her fascinating journey towards achieving her childhood dream of becoming an astronaut and gain insight into her current work with the Australian Space Agency, where she at the forefront of efforts to develop Australia's space capabilities.

We are offering two ways for schools to take part in this event. Please note this event is designed for children aged 10+

IN PERSON: Free tickets are available for schools to attend in person at Canberra Museum and Gallery. Tickets include the talk, meeting Katherine for a photo and autograph signing, morning tea and a tour of the Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars and Djara exhibitions. This option will run at Canberra Museum and Gallery from 9:30am - 12:00pm. Please note: A limit of 5 tickets is available per school for staff and students (eg 1 staff and 4 students). Numbers are capped to allow multiple schools access.

ONLINE: Schools that register for the online option will be sent a live stream URL to enable classes to watch Katherine's talk from the classroom or for your very own International Women's Day event at school. This option will run online from 9:30am - 10:45am.

This event is in association with the current Outer Space: Stromlo to the Stars exhibition and supported by the Australian Space Agency.
