Ask a Scientist invites participants to explore a fascinating science topic and engage in a live Q&A session with the experts. Hudson River Park is teaming up with Secret Science Club to host this evening of curiosity and fun. Join us for this event in our Wetlab aquarium with climate-focused experts!

Andrea Silverman
Andrea Silverman is an Associate Professor of environmental engineering in the Department of Civil, Urban, and Environmental Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Dr. Silverman's research focuses on water quality, wastewater treatment, waterborne pathogens, and urban flooding, with an overarching goal to protect public health and environmental quality. In addition to laboratory-based research on the detection and control of waterborne pathogens, Dr. Silverman works on applied urban projects, including FloodNet, which is working to develop and install sensor networks to measure hyperlocal street-level flooding in cities; through these projects she collaborates with local and federal government agencies, as well as community-based organizations in New York City.

Syl Foisy
Syl Foisy (he/him) is a PhD candidate at NASA GISS and Columbia University studying aerosols, the tiny liquid and solid particles in the atmosphere that have an outsized influence on our climate, our weather, and the air we breathe. Syl is also a social media creator with over two million followers, and an aspiring science communicator. In his personal capacity, he recently walked from NYC to DC to support weather and climate science.
