Join us for a social lunchtime science event as part of Seniors Week! Enjoy an engaging one-hour lecture session featuring multiple short talks on science, health, and innovation.

There will be presentations from

  • Ageing in Place, the science behind your home, Dr Joanna Sun brings together the science of design, ageing and dementia to examine how our homes can better support us across later life.

  • The INSIGHT Project, Hear from Dr Eddy Roccati about a novel project tested in ISLAND, where participants received their own personalised biological, genetic and cognitive data via a co-designed online interface.

  • The Brain's Plumbing, Dr Gary Morris will explain how healthy blood vessels help keep our brains working well throughout life and what happens when that system begins to break down.

  • The Parkinson's MOOC: Educating and connecting communities around the world, Join Professor Michele Callisaya to learn about Parkinson's and the importance of community and connections

Hear from passionate researchers as they share the latest insights into healthy ageing, design for wellbeing, and the fascinating science behind everyday things.

After the talks, stick around lunch and for a "Meet the Researchers" session, your chance to chat with researchers, scientists, and experts, ask questions, and explore how research is shaping a better future for all ages.

This event is a perfect blend of good food, good company, and great ideas, all designed to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning.

This event is organised by the Australian Association of Gerontology Tasmania, University of Tasmania School of Nursing, The ISLAND Project and the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre.

This event is free, and a light lunch will be provided.
