    Event description

Join us at the first Science Night for 2024 kicking things off with a presentation on forest restoration in Aotearoa with guest presenters Geoff Reid and Peter Russell

Geoff Reid is a change agent and restoration consultant with a focus on urgent action related to climate, biodiversity collapse, forest restoration, human health, animal welfare, and the loss of resilience.
Geoff has over a decade of experience working on and spearheading campaigns that have mobilised public opinion, influenced policy and placed pressure on the private and public sector to respect our environment.
Geoff’s current focus is creating better tools for driving awareness and accountability as well as advocating for proper commitment and strategy towards the eradication and control of invasive weeds to protect our remnant ecosystems.

Pete Russell helps people address environmental weeds in a strategically wise manner. He has worked in a variety of conservation fields but is now mainly focused on native forest restoration.
Pete has developed strategic and innovative approaches to weed management and forest restoration at a wide range of sites, including high value islands, isolated mainland reserves, a fenced sanctuary, rural properties and towns adjacent to both high-value areas and weedy suburban areas. He currently oversees weed management and forest restoration at several sites in the lower North Island and upper South Island. The most rewarding aspect of his current work involves empowering community groups to have meaningful impacts on weeds and developing catchment-level approaches to weed management.

This is a FREE event and this month we'll be holding it in the Courtyard out back. All are welcome!
Arrive early if you want to order dinner, a drink and snag a good table. Science Night commences at 6pm.
    Nau mai, haere mai!
