Scissor Siblings: Cut Collage Zine Making Workshop

Facilitated by Daniel “Chino” Rodriguez, who has shared collage-making practices with the Los Angeles community for over 10 years, the workshop centers art as a form of healing within our current political landscape. Inspired by the surrealist technique of exquisite corpse, the session begins with a brief overview of queer zine history, followed by a hands-on demonstration, then a collective art movement of arranging the folios of the zine.

NETA Zine was Founded in 2014 by Daniel “Chino” Rodriguez and Erik Barrios Recendez amid political unrest and the unfolding of their identities as QPOC living in the San Gabriel Valley. Neta Zine is an digital rasquache archive that celebrates Identities through redefining culture and LGBTQIA+ history. Local artists are invited to post and curate the social media feed as a form of collaboration. Deeply rooted in DIY zine culture, pop up events become creative safe spaces to celebrate uncensored art with the Neta Zine Collective. Participants are invited to bring materials to share and add to a creative art making archive.
