Who Owns Ireland? // Two-Part Class // With Conor McCabe. ticket
Who really owns Ireland, and how did it get that way? Historian Conor McCabe, in his book Money, shows how money works as a social technology, and how those who control it hold enormous power, including a class deeply embedded in the institutions of the Irish State. Drawing on that work and his earlier book Sins of the Father, this two-part class starts with the big ideas behind class and capitalism. It then turns them on Ireland itself, and asks how our money system could serve the common good instead of private wealth.
