Scottish Country Dance TryItOut Event

Want to try a fun, social dance style? For everybody who would love to have dance as a hobby but never found the right thing, this is for you.

North Essendon Scottish Country Dance is getting the word out in 2025- they have the best dance style ever, and it’s for normal people, not athletes.

We are hosting a free TryItOut Event on May 24, 2025, 2 pm, at the Gannawarra Centre, 132 Keilor Rd, North Essendon and invite all to come along and try it out.

President Robin Stuart says  ’It’s a community style of dance, from weddings and ceidlidhs to the grand balls on Scotland’s aristocratic estates.

 ‘We dance in sets, it’s hand contact only, you don’t need  partner, men and women do pretty much the same thing, nice sensible flat shoes… the list goes on.’

You just need is soft soled shoes to start, and a reasonable level of fitness. And, no, the kilt is never compulsory, even on the most formal occasions.
