Event description

Highland Dancing

Kicking off the evening (literally) will be a troupe of highland dancers from dance schools around Perth - The Alba Academy of Highland Dance, The Campbell School of Highland Dance, the Infinity Dance Academy and the Perth Academy of Highland Dance.  They come together to demonstrate the athleticism, focus and grace required to be a dancer of this precision-focused craft, and to connect you to the history of the Highlands."

Katie McMahon

Next up is Mandurah based Scottish singer/songwriter Katie McMahon who showcases Celtic storytelling music in her own delightful style that is sure to appeal to any music loving audience.

Her musical influences of Eddi Reader, Amy Macdonald, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell and mainstream '80s & '90s pop along with Celtic/Scottish folk bands permeate through Katie's song writing style and cover song choices.

Katie grew up in Ayrshire, the birthplace of Scotland's most famous poet Robert Burns and spent many holidays in her maternal home of the Western Isles of Scotland. It was during this time that Katie’s love of the native Scottish Gaelic music came to the fore, listening to her grandmother sing the traditional songs and as she grew up and attending traditional Scottish music festivals.

Katie became a solo artist throughout the Perth music scene in 2018 and is now a regular in the Mandurah circuit of pubs and restaurants including venues such as The Pipers Inn, Murphy’s Irish Pub, Brewvino to name but a few. She also travels around Perth and Fremantle, playing a mix of well-known nostalgic popular folk covers and her catchy original music which leaves every audience smiling.
