Event description

Join NIBS for this double screening of Revolution Until Victory AKA We are the Palestinian People (1973) and South Lebanon: Story of a Village Under Siege (1976), as part of the Palestine Film Institute's Provoked Narratives. This screening is also supported by the SEARCH Foundation.

About Revolution Until Victory:
Made by a breakaway faction of the US Newsreel collective Pacific Newsreel, Revolution Until Victory AKA We are the Palestinian People is a clear act of transnational solidarity cinema. The film collates archival footage into a detailed, historical reconstruction with great attention paid to the political genesis of Zionism, the role of colonial Britain in assigning Palestine to Zionists and the strategic role Israel has played ever since in the control and monopoly of the world's most sought-after commodity – oil.

About South Lebanon:
In 1976, Lebanese filmmaker Jocelyne Saab traveled to the south of Lebanon to document the Israeli attacks on the Lebanese villages of Kufr Shuba and Hanine for French TV. She avoids filming the Palestinian resistance, focusing instead on the military dynamics at work in the context of the Lebanese civil war. By exposing the complicity of the Phalangists and the Israeli army, she denounces the lies of the Lebanese parties and the injustice of the violence perpetrated against Lebanese civilians in the south of the country.

Accessibility: NIBS is now located in the Lygon Street Wing of VTHC. Access is through the car park (come before 6pm to access via Lygon Street). Capacity is very limited so please book so we're aware of interest. Please wear a mask, and test for Covid before coming to the screening.
