Screentime: A balanced digital diet
Event description
With the increasingly blurred lines between our online and offline lives, commentary abounds around the perils of technology and the many risks it presents, particular when it comes to young people and education. However, a healthy balance and a more nuanced understanding of the term 'screen time' is key. As Mentone Girls' Grammar strives to prepare all students to engage ethically, meaningfully and responsibly with technology, what does the current research tell us about the positives and pitfalls in this age of digital distraction?
Dr Karl Sebire has recently spoken at the National Education Summit (Melbourne), EdMedia Conference (NYC), and the Global Forum on Girls' Education (Boston) on the merits of a healthy digital lifestyle in the online age. Dr Sebire is the Director of Research & Technology at Mentone Girls' Grammar, lectures at the Melbourne University Graduate School of Education, and contributes to the media and academic conversation around screen time and purposeful technology integration.
