About our facilitators
Heather (she/her) is a Consumer Peer Worker at Eating Disorders Victoria and co-facilitates the group with Richard. She draws on her lived experience of recovery from an eating disorder to support others navigating their way through their own eating disorder journeys. She offers a non-judgmental, empathetic, and compassionate approach, creating a safe space where individuals feel heard and understood. Within the group space, Heather fosters connection and shared experiences among participants, while remaining open to the differing worldviews, perspectives, and lived experiences of everyone in the group. Heather brings warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and a genuine belief that recovery from an eating disorder is possible for everyone. Outside of peer work, Heather loves spending time in nature - whether that’s walking by the river, swimming in the ocean, or getting her hands dirty on her parents’ farm. She enjoys catching up with friends over coffee at her favourite café, gardening, and dabbling in various artsy activities.
On occasion other EDV peer workers may fill in to facilitate the group at short notice due to staff's capacity or availability.
