    Event description

Based on neuroscience and recommended by hundreds of thousands around the world, Search Inside Yourself offers tools and practices for resilience, effective leadership, interpersonal communication and mental well being. Join us Wednesday - Friday October 16th to October 18th, from 8:30am PT to 12:30pm PT.

Everyday you are serving the needs of our fragile planet. The earth and its inhabitants have a greater chance of thriving because of what you do. The interactive and transformational SIY program shares practical mindfulness, emotional intelligence and self-compassion tools, enabling you to support yourself and build your influential skills so that you can do what's needed to protect life on earth. This program is made possible by generous support from the BESS Family Foundation. This program is made to be accessible to all environmental activists, regardless of means. If you don't see a workable ticket price for your means, click "Get Tickets" and enter the access code "SlidingScale", wherein you can choose the amount you can offer.

To register, click "Get Tickets" and then select the number of seats you'd like.

    By Participating You Will:

    • Develop your emotional intelligence skills
    • Build healthy habits to support your mental well-being
    • Identify your personal motivations and determine how they can support you in your work
    • Explore how to navigate difficult relationships with more ease
    • Strengthen your interpersonal skills, like empathy with supportive boundaries
    • Cultivate your capacity to be a compassionate and effective leader and influencer
    • Learn practical stress-management techniques
    • Find inspiration from the earth and like-minded activists
    • Connect with a global community

    Program Journey

    • 3 Live Online Sessions: SIY begins with three 4-hour sessions of live, interactive programming where you'll learn from facilitators, engage in experiential-based learning and connect with a global community.
    • 28-Day Practice Period: The live program is followed by an online learning period where you'll receive daily practices to help you integrate what you learned at the live sessions.
    • Capstone Webinar: The program concludes with a 1-hour webinar where you'll reconnect with fellow participants, share your experience and gain additional tools to continue to apply your learnings.

    Live Online Sessions

The live online sessions are on October 16, 17, and 18, from 8:30am PT to 12:30pm PT (find your local time here).

    Course Expectations and Technical Requirements:

To fully participate and get the most out of the program, we ask for a commitment to attend all three of the live session days; there will be a waiting list so please ensure you can attend all three in order to reserve your spot. In addition, we strongly recommend that you:

    • Minimize distractions and unplug from other devices so you can give your full attention
    • Be in a private, physical space where you are comfortable sharing. The program is experiential and includes both breakout rooms and guided meditations. This means that a coffee shop or shared work room are not ideal

The program is held through Zoom, so in order to participate we recommend you have:

    • A private computer or smart phone with internet access. The program is designed for each person to connect from their own device
    • A stable internet connection
    • A camera so that you are able to use video call functions

    Your Facilitators:

    Meg Levie
    - Meg is an executive coach and ordained Zen priest who helps high-performance leaders and teams work with greater clarity, purpose, and impact.

Meg began teaching the SIY program in 2011 at Google and joined SIYLI soon after its founding in 2012. She has designed and led extended SIY teacher trainings as well as multiple internal train-the-trainer programs at organizations like Google and SAP, facilitating scaling of the SIY program to thousands of people worldwide.

Meg received ordination as a Zen priest in 2003 through the San Francisco Zen Center and authorization to teach in 2007. Currently Meg leads programs internationally, from Shanghai and Tokyo to San Francisco, London, and Sydney. She enjoys working with leaders and teams from companies ranging from nonprofits to Fortune 500. She is certified as an executive coach from New Ventures West in San Francisco and holds an AB with honors from Stanford University and an MA from the University of Texas at Austin. She loves exploring new cities and taking long walks in the hills near San Francisco.

Val Tan - With a background steeped in ancient traditions, and a lifetime of practicing mindfulness to support her modern (ultra busy) mind to perform in the modern life—Val is fiercely committed to helping visionary leaders and their teams navigate transformations, build a thriving culture, and create meaningful impact.

Val grew up in a traditional family temple in Singapore, where meditation was a mandatory practice. As a young adult, Val learnt to adapt this practice to help her cope with the stresses of the hyper-competitive environment in Asia.

Today, Val runs a global modern practice, M Meditation. At M, mindfulness and meditation is never about sitting straight, being still, or asking your mind to shut up. Instead, Val teaches in an accessible and approachable manner—through science and storytelling; and makes sure that everything you learn can be applied in real life. As such, M went on to become a strategic partner for organizational wellness initiatives with nonprofit and corporate organizations.

Val is also a 5th generation spiritual advisor and success strategist for pioneering organizations around the world seeking to actualize their next-level purpose and potential. She’s helped hundreds of activists, executives, founders and mission-driven individuals embody and set in motion their legacies—with clear-eyed vision, upleveled leadership, and a deep sense of purpose.

Special thanks to BESS Family Foundation and to long-time environmental activist Tim Ream, without whom this program would not be possible.

Refunds are available up to one day prior to the program. Due to Humanitix policy, the ticketing fees are not refundable.
