Seasonal Storytelling Boook Launch Rawene
Event description
You are invited to join storyteller, gardener and early years arts educator Tanya Batt as she gives a kōrero about her new pukapuka, ‘Seasonal Storytelling – A calendar of story, drama, dance and song.’
The book is a call from a pākehā perspective to celebrate our seasons using storytelling and the expressive arts in accordance with our taiao/environment, matauranga Māori and the rich and varied cultural traditions that form our hapori/communities.
The pukapuka was written to be used by all those working with our tamariki but its kaupapa speaks to all ages in a time when our heARTfelt connection to our taiao is critical.
I was forunate to receive a residency at 'The Church' in Rawene thanks to Linda Blincko and Lynn Lawton in 2023 to work on the manuscript for this book, and so it feels fitting that I should share the completed pukapuka in the place where the seed was sown.
This event is hosted by Hokianga Books.
Books will be available for sale $49.90.
