    Event description

Music students from years 10, 11 and 12 are invited to attend an exclusive Secondary Schools Masterclass with international jazz sensation and multiple Grammy Award nominee, Jazzmeia Horn.

Jazzmeia was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where her talents emerged and blossomed at an arts-focused high school. Based in New York City since 2009 she is a vocalist, producer, activist, writer, and educator. Enthused as one of the “most exciting young vocalists in jazz” by The New York Times, Horn has been compared to vocal jazz greats such as Betty Carter, Sarah Vaughan, and Nancy Wilson.

If you’re completing SACE Music Performance — Solo, we have an incredible opportunity for you! Vocalists are encouraged to nominate themselves to sing for Jazzmeia. You will be able to workshop your exam repertoire with Jazzmeia and receive invaluable feedback.

This is an exceptional opportunity to witness Jazzmeia as she instructs emerging vocalists in a very special masterclass designed specifically for secondary school students.

“Exposure to international artists like Jazzmeia Horn is an utterly invaluable opportunity for our Elder Conservatorium jazz students and our alumni. Working alongside an artist of this calibre, our young musicians enjoy a first-rate artistic experience; when married to this level of pedagogical expertise, the experience also leaves them with tools that continue to inform their practice.” – Anna Goldsworthy, Director of Elder Conservatorium of Music

Please note that this exclusive Secondary Schools Masterclass with Jazzmeia Horn is only open to students in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Proof of eligibility will be required when you register your FREE tickets.

Vocalists interested in singing for Jazzmeia Horn can indicate this at the checkout. You can also email Lauren Henderson, Jazz Voice Lecturer, Elder Conservatorium of Music and advise her of your interest.

Numbers limited. Book early to secure your spot!
