Secret Story Dinner: Stop Copying Me! – Story Week 2024
Event description
SECRET STORY DINNER: STOP COPYING ME!
Story Week: Common-Unity
Tales of cultural appropriation. Stop wearing that fro. Are you trying to show empathy by speaking in my voice? If you parody me when I and my family have been ridiculed violently for being born brown, it’s dehumanising. Wait, why is this idiot patting me on the head?
You are invited to bring a story. Word Travels provides the food and special Story Week guests. In this series of experiences, everybody shares an authentic part of themselves around a dinner table. Each night features a theme. Pick one, book yourself in, then eat, drink and open your memory box. A welcoming space for both the shy and gregarious.
Warning: may include face to face communication with other humans and eye contact.
HOSTED BY: Hani Abdile and Dai Moret
