Sector workshop: Protected communications and counselling records
Event description
The Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing and the Sexual Assault Legal Service WA invite you to a workshop on protected communications and counselling records.
WA has laws that protect the disclosure and use of sexual assault counselling records in criminal trials, known as protected communications.
Many services in WA are receiving subpoenas and requests for information and counselling records on a weekly basis. Without in-house legal teams, this can be a confusing and difficult process for services to navigate.
This workshop will cover:
- What is a protected communication
- Where are other places service may get requests or summons for information
- Case study examples
Date: 28 April 2025
Location: Level 6, 445 Hay Street - Note: an online option will be available for regional and remote attendees. Please register for an online ticket to access this option.
Time: 1 – 3.45pm
(The Sexual Assault Legal Service WA anniversary event will follow directly after this workshop at 4pm in the same location)
