See the World as a Scientist - Daisy & Brownie Troops
Event description
Join the New Jersey State Museum for a science-filled day focusing on space, citizen science, and STEM careers! Have fun while learning from Museum curators, all while earning badges and awards for Space Explorer, Citizen Scientist, and STEM Careers. Learn about the wonders of the universe with our Planetarium shows, start your citizen scientist journey and discover nature all around you, and chat with our Museum scientists and find out what a career in STEM really looks like and where your interests may lead you.
This event is suitable for grades K-3, and troop leaders can enjoy a pre-scheduled day at the Museum. All scouts receive a gift bag upon check-in. Schedules are split according to troop level: Daisy troops in the morning and Brownie troops in the afternoon. Please note – Girl Scout badges are not included in the program fee and can be purchased online or at your local Girl Scout shop.
Daisy Troops Schedule:
- 10 AM – Planetarium Show: "One World, One Sky" with Q&A session led by Assistant Curator for Planetarium Education, Dr. Jacob Hamer
- 11 AM – STEM Career Exploration session led by Assistant Curators for Science & Planetarium Education, Dr. Devra Hock-Reid & Dr. Jacob Hamer
- 12 PM – Start Your Citizen Scientist Journey, led by Assistant Curator for Science Education, Dr. Devra Hock-Reid
Brownie Troops Schedule:
- 1 PM – Planetarium Show – "Magic Tree House: Space Mission" – with Q&A session led by Assistant Curator for Planetarium Education, Dr. Jacob Hamer
- 2 PM – STEM Career Exploration session led by Assistant Curators for Science & Planetarium Education, Dr. Devra Hock-Reid & Dr. Jacob Hamer
- 3 PM – Start Your Citizen Scientist Journey, led by Assistant Curator for Science Education, Dr. Devra Hock-Reid
Tickets are $10 per person and include the Planetarium show and two workshop sessions.
Registration is open until November 10 or until we reach capacity for each Planetarium show.
Please make one registration for each troop. The Museum does not offer refunds, so please be sure of your final number before completing your registration.
