Annual Girl Scout Day: See the World as a Scientist
Event description
Join the New Jersey State Museum for its annual Girl Scout Day; a science-filled day focusing on astronomy and space, citizen science, and STEM careers. Learn about the wonders of the universe with our Planetarium shows, start your citizen scientist journey and discover nature all around you, chat with our Museum scientists, find out what a career in STEM really looks like and where your interests may lead you. Have fun exploring science all while earning qualifications towards badges and awards for Space Explorer, Citizen Scientist, and STEM Careers. Please note – Girl Scout badges are not included in the program fee and can be purchased online or at your local Girl Scout shop.
This all-day event is structured according to troop level and troop leaders can enjoy a pre-scheduled day at the Museum.
Daisy and Brownie Troops Schedule:
- 10 AM – Planetarium Show: "One World, One Sky" (A 10:30 show will be added if this one reaches capacity)
- 11 AM – STEM Career Introduction
- 12 PM – Starting Your Citizen Scientist Journey
Junior and Cadette Troops Schedule:
- 12 PM – Planetarium Show – "Big Astronomy"
- 1 PM – STEM Career Exploration
- 2 PM – Building Your Citizen Scientist Journey
Senior (9-10) & Ambassador (11-12)
- 3 pm: STEM Career Panel
Registration Information: Tickets for Daisy through Cadette troops are $10 per person and include the Planetarium show and two sessions. All scouts receive a gift bag upon check-in. Please have the number of scouts and adults ready when you register.
Tickets for Senior and Ambassador troops are $5 and include the STEM Career Panel.
Registration is open until February 17 or until we reach capacity for each Planetarium show.
Please make one registration for each troop. The Museum does not offer refunds, so please be sure of your final number before completing your registration.
NOTE - Everyone attending - scouts, chaperones, siblings, must pay the registration fee. Siblings who are not scouts are welcome to join the Planetarium show but must be included in the non-scout count during registration. They are also welcome to come and explore the Museum at no cost, but must always have an adult accompanying them as required by Museum rules.
