About our Open Garden
When Alison and her husband moved to their 1.5 acre block in Wodonga West about three years ago the garden was largely comprised of expanses of Buffalo grass lawn broken by a few beds of ornamental plants and some fruit trees. After eighteen months of hard work, she has transformed the block into an abundant and productive source of food as well as replacing many of the ornamentals with native plants.  She is a passionate gardener and her achievements are inspirational, although she is quick to say that her garden is a work in progress.
She uses sustainable, organic gardening practices and also saves seed and propagates from cuttings.
In this garden you will see suppression methods for keeping the Buffalo grass and other invasive weeds at bay, crop rotation, green manure, compost making, propagation methods, native plants and an abundant amount of produce!
Kids welcome but must be well supervised
Seed Savers Albury Wodonga encourages the saving of seed from useful,
edible, and beneficial plants. There will be time between garden
sessions to access our seed bank.
Gardeners are a lovely, sharing bunch. Feel free to bring any extra seeds, plants, or produce from your own garden to share and swap with others on the day.
