Women's Empowerment Self-Defence Classes | Students
Event description
You matter. You have a voice. You are worth defending. Be empowered to use your mind, your voice and your body to feel respected, safe and strong with one of our upcoming self-defence workshops with Power2SelfProtect (P2SP).
Women's Empowerment Self-Defence with P2SP takes a feminist and holistic approach to self-defence, and recognises the reality of self-protection for women. Designed for women by women, these sessions are designed to provide a range of evidence-based tools to empower, educate and equip women with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, avoid and defend against threats to their physical safety and well-being.
With introductory and advanced workshops available this August, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and apply your skills in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. The following sessions are available for students:
Wednesday 13 August, 2-5pm - Introductory workshop (MSA Women's Safe & Sexy Week)
Thursday 14 August, 9am-12pm - Introductory workshop
Friday 15 August, 10am-12pm - Extension workshop (must have previously completed the Introductory workshop or Flip the Script with EAAA®)
All sessions will be held at Monash Sport, Clayton campus.
This workshop will be delivered by Dr Sally Lai (PhD, Psychology), who is the Director and Lead Instructor of Power2SelfProtect (P2SP).
Note: This workshop is designed for women and is inclusive of gender diverse and non-binary people of all abilities. If you have any questions or concerns about your participation, please reach out to us at edi@monash.edu.
