Event description

Himboy is coming to Perth!
Welcome to the second self-tying workshop, Introduction to Suspension.

Selfie Circle is a class to explore self tying, from the floor to the air. With a focus on diverse tying methods and accessibility, Himboy has created Selfie Circle for all self tying humans. Whether you tie for feeling and emotion,\ skill development, or just to get some rope on your body, you'll enjoy the class, build some community and hopefully walk away with a few tips and tricks to help with your practice.

Introduction to Suspension is (unsurprisingly) a basic self suspension class. Having attended the Floor Flow class, throughout this Intro to Suspension class, participants will build knowledge of two basic harnesses, knowledge around uplines and lock offs, and importantly work on understanding and building their own risk profiles around self suspension, considering gear and relative skill levels.

All self suspension will require an individual spotter, and as such, students will learn to spot for each other and take turns on points. Participants must bring their own rope, safety/cutting implement, and rated carabiners or a suspension ring.

Please be aware that self tying can be physically and/or emotionally demanding, so it is suggested that you bring snacks, drinks and any other aftercare needs. There will be a one hour long lunch break in the middle of the day.

What do I need to bring?
Ropes, safety shears, a water bottle, any comfort items needed & some snacks.

What do I wear?
Anything you feel comfortable in, and that you can easily move around in.

Himboy/Micah (he/they) is a trans gender fluid human living and teaching on unceded Wurundjeri country in Naarm/Melbourne. He has been in and around the rope community, and an active member of the broader kink scene since 2016. In 2020 Himboy co-founded Melbourne Community Rope, a queer led not-for-profit teaching collective of rope educators where he is currently on committee. In addition, he has previously taught at Peer Rope Melbourne, Mannhaus’ ‘The Establishment’ series, Hitchcraft Sydney, as well as in private consultations and sessions since 2019. Presenting adult education on a range of topics, from rope and movement, to bottom education and other BDSM topics, he focuses on developing accessibility in his teaching, considering intersectionality and trauma informed approaches. A lifelong learner, he frequently attends classes in person and online from a range of teachers, from Tifereth’s visits to Australia, to Karada House’s Queer Rope conferences, to the wonderful historical work of Midori, and many others.
