Senate Bock Release Party
Event description
Senate Bock is Back, DC! Researched by Lost Lagers, brewed by Right Proper Brewing Co. in partnership with the Heurich House, with a can designed by Mike Van Hall, this century old beer will be available this March.
On March 5th from 5-7pm, be the first to taste the newest revival of a historic Heurich Brewing Co. beer. Join us in the museum’s biergarten for an evening exploring the beer’s history and our modern revival process with Kimberly Bender, CEO of the Heurich House Museum, Thor Cheston, Founder & Owner of Right Proper Brewing Co., and Lost Lagers partners, Pete Jones and Mike Stein.
This historic Senate Bock recipe comes from a 1948 “Report of Analysis” from The Wallerstein Laboratories found at the National Archives. The report provides Bock’s color, strength, and technical details that are of great importance to brewers and quality assurance managers. Chr. Heurich Brewing Co. (1872-1956) placed Senate Bock advertisements in local newspapers from 1878 to 1941, however the report is from seven years later. It is unclear how often the beer was brewed as it was a unique beer for the Heurich Brewery to produce. In addition to the report, Senate Bock was brewed with documents in the Heurich House Museum’s archives, specifically “A See Trip Through A Great Brewery” (circa 1937) and The Heurich 1933 Brewery Plans and Blueprints scans.
