Senior STEM Club Semester 2 2022 (Term 3 & 4)
Event description
Good evening
STEM Club runs for students in years 7 through to 12. It happens in the Airlie Room on Tuesdays from 3.30-5pm.
There are 30 places in STEM club and it will be based on a first come, first served basis.
Please note, you are signing up and paying for Terms 3 and 4 (Semester 2) of 2022. STEM Club will run from week 2-10 of Term 3 and week 2-9 of Term 4.
The cost of the club is $380 per Semester.
The plan for the Semester is as follows:
Term 3 – Robot Arm
The robot arm project is an Arduino based build that is controlled via buttons and several servos. The project utilises 3D modelling & printing (the arm), microcontroller electronics (Arduino components and wiring) and coding (the movement). We will build the robot arm together step by step and then develop various creative applications. It is possible to control the robot arm in future projects via app or to integrate it into Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
Term 4 – Arduino Hacking
The Arduino hacking course will be a modification project where you will design one or more modifications to your robot arm, LED lights rig, Tonuino or similar. This will enable you to use and grow the skills you have learnt over the past terms, from coding & electronics to 3D modelling to Bluetooth and network apps. We will have some basic suggested projects at the start of the course to help you. At present we are looking at hacking an air quality sensor from IKEA and recalibrating it for the Arduino, among other things.
Many thanks,
Freya Campion
