Seniors Festival 2026: Understanding Services Australia in Retirement
Description
The Understanding Services Australia in Retirement information session is a practical and easy-to-follow workshop that helps retirees understand the services and support available through Services Australia. Participants will learn about the Support at Home program, including the role of Services Australia, how to arrange a means assessment, how fees are calculated, and how individual contributions are determined. The session also covers important information about travelling overseas in retirement, including how travel may affect Services Australia payments and services. In addition, attendees will receive guidance on using myGov and online services to manage their information and access government support more confidently. Presented in a friendly and welcoming environment, the session includes plenty of opportunities to ask questions and gain practical knowledge.
Tea and coffee will be available, and the venue is wheelchair and low-mobility accessible. Participants with additional accessibility requirements are encouraged to contact Castlemaine Community House before attending the session.
Low involves minimal walking to and within the activity and mostly flat ground. There is always an alternate option to sit somewhere.
Stairs: The activity includes a venue that may have steps to access some parts.
