Seniors Festival 2025: Tour of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens
Event description
Join us for a tour of the majestic Castlemaine Botanical Gardens led by one of the knowledgable garden horticultural staff.
The gardens were originally opened in 1860 and stand on the historic lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung nation. The gardens today represent a wonderful collection of historic plantings including significant examples of oaks, elms and pines, expansive rose gardens and seasonal flower beds. The gardens are also home to the scenic Lake Joanna and it's notable birdlife.
Participants are expected to be able to walk on the main paths of the garden. Note that for people with mobility issues we also are have access to a Castlemaine Trishaw bicycle to aid in the transport of a limited number of people (but please note, this cannot be guaranteed).
After the tour, we will relocate to Das Kaffeehaus cafe at The Mill for an informal chat about our morning.
