Sensible Supplementation: Cattle Nutrition 101 | Boonah
Event description
Supplementation is a key part of herd management and often a significant cost. But how do you know you are providing your animals what they need and doing it in the most cost effective way?
DPI and Healthy Land & Water are bringing you Sensible Supplementation workshops to learn all things cattle nutrition.
The workshops will discuss the fundamentals that must be considered for effective management of animal nutrition and supplementation. Topics will include:
Nutrition fundamentals
Nutrient requirements
Identifying limiting nutrients
Protein, energy and phosphorus supplementation
Breeder herd management to minimise supplement costs
Evaluating supplement options
Producers can have the nutritional value and cost effectiveness of their supplements evaluated at these workshops if they send supplement details before the workshops. Please send your product labels and the costs (landed on farm and minus GST) to kate.brown@dpi.qld.gov.au.
If you have any queries, please call 0457 520 457.
This project is being supported by the Department of Primary Industries, Queensland and by Healthy Land & Water through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
