Event description

On the first Saturday of each month, the old Perth Central Fire Station hosts an early access session designed to support children with sensory needs.

These sessions allow your family to explore and enjoy the station in your own way.

Your child can dress up as a firefighter, sit in a real fire truck, and it's entirely up to you if we turn on the flashing lights or ring the station bell.

You’ll be joined by other families who are there for the same reasons you are… to have fun.

NOTE: Due to change in the general opening time of the Centre, the Early Access Sessions now start at 9:00am.

What you can expect:

  • Volunteers trained in disability awareness to welcome you.
  • A friendly supportive environment with limited visitors who are there for the same reason as you.
  • Lighting and sound levels adjusted (where possible) for a low sensory experience (these will return to normal levels from 10.00am).
  • A designated quiet area for those needing to take a break.
  • A sensory touch table with objects to handle.
  • A Visual Story with details on what you can expect on your visit.

General information about visiting can be found on the Old Central Fire Station website.
