Sensual Masc Pole Workshop

They are finally doing it - in collaboration with the show Mascs, Mercury is bringing their Sensual Masc Pole workshop to Pole Class!

Mercury is your resident gender chameleon, pole instructor, industry worker, and performer. Their refusal to be put in a box has led them to retraining their body so they can perform as masc, femme, or easily switching between the two. Training under their Drag Dad, Daddy Charles, Mercury has developed their own style in masculine expression and applied it to pole dance.

Sensual Masc Pole is a workshop that deconstructs what it means to be masculine and feminine, and the perspective and perception of who we are dancing for, and applies this to pole dance, floorwork, low flow, and tricks. Acknowledging that pole comes from Strippers and is a space for feminine expression, this workshop aims to expand this for those who feel masculine to be able to express themselves in ways that are authentic to themselves.

Some pole dance experience is required for this workshop. Minimum requirements include a strong chair spin, Open Jamilla, fan kick and backspin. If you are unsure if you meet these requirements send us a message before booking. The class content will be adjusted according to attendee levels.

This workshop is perfect for established dancers to play with expression in their performances. It is also for trans masc people, queer people, allies, and gender diverse people who want a space to explore gender through movement on the pole.

This workshop will be separated into phases, with a discussion component breaking down gender, the male/female gaze, perceptions, perspectives and expectations on gender, and a practical phase of applying this through movement and tricks. Leave your ego at the door, and get ready to explore your masculine side.
