The art of Shibari as a practice of connection, presence, and sensual awareness.
This 2.5 hour workshop offers a grounded introduction to Shibari in creating a sensual experience for the person in rope.
This is not erotic or sexual. It is about offering an embodied experience of sensations through presence, touch and rope.
It is suitable if you are completely new to rope or already know some technical basics. We’ll be focusing on exploring how rope can become a language of care, attunement, and shared sensual experience. The focus is on creating a flowing, embodied journey for the rope model with presence and attuned response.
What You’ll Learn
Safety, consent, and communication principles that create trust and emotional safety
How to prioritise the person - negotiating, building trust and reading them along the way.
Ways to cultivate connection and embodied sensation through presence, touch, and rope
Foundational tying techniques that feel good for the receiver.
How to structure and lead a tying session that feel mutually enjoyable.
Building confidence with rope without pressure or performance.

This workshop is designed for both beginners and the experienced
It isfor those wanting to deepen their understanding of connection, flow, and the felt experience for the person in rope.
You may come solo or with a partner. All exercises can be practised on yourself, with a partner, or through mindful observation.
What to Bring
Comfortable clothing you can move in
Ropes will be available for class use. If you prefer, you may bring 1–2 of your own (8 m jute)
Water bottle, notebook (optional)
What to Expect
A warm, supportive space that honours consent and clear communication.
We’ll begin with shared agreements, move into rope fundamentals with an emphasis on presence, sensation, and connection, and close with reflections.
Come with curiosity and openness as we learn to listen to the rope, to each other, and to the body - in a space free from sexual or erotic expectation.

Brett D. - teaching
Introduced to shibari 15 years ago, Brett’s approach has evolved into a somatic and relational art. His style weaves mindful presence, sensitivity, and embodied communication as a practice of connection and attunement. Brett brings confidence in the foundations and a grounded, heart-centered approach to rope.
Kat aka Spiky Petals - assisting
An emerging rigger passionate about building community, connect shibari enthusiasts, provide opportunity to learn and explore. Kat's style is - sensual tying with the strong focus on aesthetics. Apart from being her art, shibari for her is a tool of self exploration.
