Event description

At the beginning of each Farm Kids session we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.

Ages 5 and over

SESSIONS

Friday 26 Sep: Mini Farmers - Get Your Goat!
9am - 3pm | Meet the farm’s cheekiest characters and discover why goats are such clever, useful animals! Kids will learn about a goat’s diet and the difference between foraging and grazing, explore how goats help with weed control, and find out why they’re kept for milk, meat, and more. We’ll research different breeds, uncover fascinating goat facts, and see just how much personality these four-legged friends have. Activities include creating adorable goat puppets for a fun puppet show, cooking tasty mini fritters with goat’s cheese and fresh garden produce, and crafting a goat-themed bookmark to take home. A day full of animal antics, hands-on creativity, and delicious farm flavours!

Wednesday 1 Oct: Workshop - Charming Chickens!
9.30am - 12.30pm | Cluck into the world of chickens and discover what it takes to keep them healthy and happy! Kids will learn about different heritage breeds, explore a chicken’s fascinating life cycle, and find out how pasture-raised, regenerative farming methods produce the best eggs. We’ll meet our feathered friends up close and see why they’re such an important part of the farm. Activities include making hilarious little egg heads, crafting a chicken-themed bookmark, and cooking lavender pikelets with fresh farm eggs. A day of feathered fun, creative crafts, and egg-citing flavours!

Friday 3 Oct: Mini Farmers - Spring has Sprung!
9am - 3pm | Celebrate new growth and new life on the farm! Kids will take part in a spring scavenger hunt to spot baby animals, blossoms, bees, fresh green leaves, and bird nests. Activities include decorating a pot with a paper flower collage and planting a marigold, sunflower, or nasturtium to take home, creating spring-inspired mini canvas art with natural materials from the farm, making a fresh herb pesto to enjoy on farm-fresh bread, and preparing blossom-infused water with lemon, strawberries, and edible flowers for a refreshing spring drink. A day full of nature, creativity, and seasonal flavours!

Wednesday 8 Oct: Workshop - Curious About Cows!
9.30am - 12.30pm | Step into the paddock and discover the world of cows—what makes beef and dairy different, and how ethical farming practices and animal welfare keep our herds healthy and happy. Kids will get hands-on making fresh, creamy butter from scratch, create a charming cow-themed trinket jar, and craft a cow-inspired bookmark to take home. A day filled with farm facts, creative fun, and delicious dairy delights!

Friday 10 Oct: Mini Farmers - Let's Go Nuts!
9am - 3pm | Crack them, taste them, plant them, create with them! Kids will discover how tiny seeds grow into amazing plants, make yummy nut-and-seed snacks, and join in hands-on nature activities.
