September 2023 Club Meeting - Guest Speaker Vicky Ampoulos
Event description
FEATURED SPEAKER:
Vicky Ampoulos
We are delighted to have Vicky Ampoulos as our speaker for this month's club meeting to talk to us about women and superannuation.
It’s time to level the playing field between men and women’s super
The pay gap between men and women has been around 18% for the last two decades. By the time women get to retirement age, this gender pay gap translates to a much bigger superannuation gap of around 47% which means that women retire with an average of $85,000 less super than men. The gender super gap is one reason that an estimated 40% of older single retired women live in poverty and experience economic insecurity in retirement. These older single women are more dependent than men on the age pension and are the fastest growing cohort of homeless people in Australia.
Women still retire with 47% less super than men and the fastest growing cohort of homeless people in Australia is single older women.
Vicky Ampoulos is the National Manager, Business Connections at Rest, one of Australia’s largest industry super funds. Vicky has over 30 years extensive experience working in financial services. She is passionate about closing the gap in retirement and making super fair.
We look forward to you joining us.
