Event description

Len Lye's first film, Tusalava, 1929 (on show in DHG's current exhibition Light Source) was animated from 4400 drawings. Lye's friend Jack Ellit composed a piano duo score for the nine minute film, which was played live at the London Film Society premiere in December 1929. Sadly the composition was lost. This Friends night, wind and sound duo Biomorph will create their own version of the soundtrack. Based on historical recollections and contemporary interpretations, Rhys Butler (alto sax) and Richard Johnson (tenor sax) will combine live playing with reel to reel tape loop recordings.

To participate you can join the Friends online, in the Gallery or over the phone.
