Description

Beginner‑friendly, seasonal gardening sessions for anyone keen to learn, share, and get hands‑on in the garden.

For the first 30 minutes we’ll explore simple, practical September topics, perfect for new gardeners and those wanting a refresher.

After that, anyone who can stay is welcome to help with some light garden mahi.

This month we’re focusing on:

  • Getting ready for spring planting

  • Sowing seeds and making your own seed‑raising mix

  • How to chit potatoes

  • Growing kūmara tipu to plant out in late October

When: 3-5pm, Tuesdays 8 & 22 September

Where: Wi Neera St, behind the Police Station

We are creating creating a family friendly garden space for fun and imagination. Come and join in, everyone is welcome

The regular working bees happen every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

Please do bring a hat, shoes, and gloves if you like wearing them. We have water and picnic seating onsite.

The Wi Neera Street community garden is an educational and recreational space where people can learn from each other, and learn by doing. Gardeners of all experience levels and abilities are welcome. No commitment necessary, come for a look and a chat if you like and hopefully you'll leave with more gardening know-how and, perhaps some spare produce.
