Description

ServSafe is an accredited food safety training for retail food service managers. In addition to the in-person training, you'll receive a study guide and resources for advanced self-study (estimated at 10 - 20 hours, highly encouraged), lunch, and a proctored exam. A passing grade of 70% or higher qualifies you as a Certified Food Protection Manager, valid for 5 years.

For those who have a high level of experience with and knowledge of food safety practices and managerial control, a proctored exam, without the full-day training, is available.

FAQs

  • Are there discounts for sending multiple employees from the same company?

Yes. Please contact the host for details. nicole.clark@colostate.edu

  • Are there discounts if I already have a current study guide?

Yes. If you already have a ServSafe updated 2022 FDA Food Code version, contact the host for a discounted price. nicole.clark@colostate.edu

  • Is there an on-line option for studying?

If you prefer on-line self-study, State Food Safety is an accredited CFPM training that offers an on-line course. This option is independent of services provided by CSU Extension in La Plata County.

  • Is this class offered in Spanish?

Yes, occasionally. Please contact event host for more details.

  • Do I need to study in advance?

The exam is written at a college level and could cover anything from the FDA Food Code (roughly a 750-page document). This is an ADVANCED food safety training and thus the expectations for comprehension are high. Without advanced self-study or significant work experience in the front and back of the house, most people will not pass the exam. Expect self-study to take 10 - 20 hours in advance of the class. Recommended self-study includes reading the entire study guide, taking practice quizzes and completing the case studies in the study guide. The in-person training is intended to reinforce and clarify what you learn through self-study.

  • What languages is the study guide available in?

English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese. For a STUDY GUIDE in a language other than English, please contact the host. Please note that the class will be conducted in English. Occasionally, a class is available in Spanish.

  • How do I pay for the training by cash or check?

To pay by cash or check please contact the host to ensure space availability and to coordinate a time for payment and study guide pick-up. If paying by check, please write the check out to "CSU Extension" with "ServSafe" in the memo.

  • Are transfers allowed?

Yes. You may transfer to another ServSafe CFPM training offered by CSU Extension La Plata County at no charge if the request is made at least 5 business days before the event. After that, there is a $25.00 transfer fee.
