Seven Deadly Sins - Sloth

The Seven Deadly Sins Portrait Workshop Series

Sloth – Stillness & Indulgence

Sloth explores the art of creating atmospheric, evocative portraits that capture the pleasure of doing nothing and the temptation to surrender to comfort. Through relaxed poses, luxurious fabrics, soft furnishings, and carefully considered lighting, this workshop focuses on communicating laziness, lethargy, and self-indulgence through visual storytelling. Rather than simply photographing a model reclining, we'll explore how posture, expression, composition, and the relationship between the model and their surroundings can convey a sense of complete abandonment to comfort. From elegant, languid poses to images that suggest apathy, escapism, and a reluctance to face the world, we'll discover how to create compelling portraits that balance beauty with the underlying character of the sin.

There is an online preproduction planning session on the Monday evening (7–8pm) where we will go through the planning process and discuss how we can use the various tools we have to develop the concept, organise our ideas, and streamline the shooting process to capture great images. On the Friday evening, we have a 90-minute post-production session where we look at how to polish our images to their best and create a coherent image set. Check out the Virtual event hub for details of how to join.

Designed for photographers looking to expand both their technical and creative skills, the series offers seven distinct themes, seven unique visual styles, and countless opportunities to create striking portfolio-worthy images.
