SEVENTEENx is back in Brisbane again for our annual event tour on 20th August with our hosts QUT Business School and Tour Partners Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. Join us in the highly engaged audience to engage with speakers and the business community with the UN Sustainable Development Goals ; and driving change through business.

We exist to Educate, Engage and Enable businesses around the world with the SDGs. To inspire us all to take action and imbed the Global Goals and impact into the very core of everything we do.
The Speakers
Each speaker has a 17 minute keynote to share with us how they are using their business to make an impact in the world, and how they align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
All speakers are home grown heroes from the Brisbane area, ready to inspire their community on how to do things a little differently.

Heidi Hauf - Global Sustainability Advisor - https://www.linkedin.com/in/he...
Heidi is a globally recognised sustainability leader with over 20 years of experience spanning business, government, and NGOs. Her work has delivered transformative sustainability outcomes across the transport, defence, energy, health, and public policy sectors.
As Boeing’s former lead for sustainable aviation in the Asia Pacific, Heidi advanced aerospace sustainability and built regional capability. She was appointed to the Australian Jet Zero Council and Sustainable Aviation Aotearoa in 2023, and has chaired multiple industry bodies. She is also a non-executive director and was named in The Australian Top 100 Green Power List (2023) for her leadership in renewable fuels and sustainability innovation.
A former Australian Army intelligence officer and graduate of the Royal Military College-Duntroon, Heidi now advises governments, energy and aviation groups, and purpose-driven start-ups on strategic sustainability. She lives in Brisbane on Jagera and Turrbal Country.

Dom Bird is a social enterprise leader with over a decade of experience building ventures that deliver real-world impact. He co-founded Civik, an award-winning civil construction social enterprise operating in Queensland and Victoria, focused on creating employment opportunities for young people facing barriers to work.
A committed advocate for social change, Dom has collaborated with social enterprises across Australia and internationally through his role as General Manager of the Social Enterprise World Forum. He previously served on the education team at Avenues: The World School in NYC, where he helped shape globally focused education models.
Dom holds a Bachelor of Education and an MBA from the University of Queensland.

Gemma Alker GAICD is an internationally recognised executive leader and strategist with over 25 years’ experience creating and scaling revenue-generating initiatives, building innovation ecosystems, and leading complex, high-impact partnerships across sectors.
She is Director of Innovation Central Brisbane, leading the national Cisco–QUT partnership and representing QUT in the National Industry Innovation Network.
Gemma has built a career advancing partnerships across industry, government, big tech, and universities, while designing entrepreneurial education and digital skills programs that drive innovation and job creation. Her CONNECT partnership methodology earned two 2023 International Stevie Awards for Women in Business —Executive of the Year (Gold) and Innovator of the Year (Silver).
A sought-after keynote speaker and communication advisor, Gemma brings deep expertise in stakeholder engagement, reputation strategy, and storytelling. She is known for connecting hearts and minds to inspire meaningful action.
She holds qualifications from QUT, MIT Sloan School of Management, Australian Institute of Company Directors, and the International Coaching Federation, and serves on industry advisory boards for Women in Digital and Children’s Hospital Queensland.

Dan is the Managing Director of The Ocelli Group, helping organisations build resilience and commercial opportunity through bespoke Sustainability support networks. This 'Impact-as-a-Service' ecosystem consists of sustainability consultancies, data reporting platforms, and communications agencies, ensuring these teams are consistently realising collaborative advantages. Dan has worked in Australia and the US for both publicly-traded firms and early-stage startups, across natural resources, technology advisory, and ESG consulting. He sees collaboration as being the key factor in ensuring all companies, industries, and countries seize the opportunities presented as we decarbonise the global economy.
