SEVENTEENx is returning to Melbourne. We're on stage in an amazing new venue , the fabulous Speaker's Corner of our hosts ; Gate 8.

Laura Thompson, a Gunditjmara woman, is the CEO and co-founder of Clothing The Gaps, an Aboriginal-led social enterprise and B-Corp that unites Indigenous and non-Indigenous people through fashion and advocacy. Under her leadership, Clothing The Gaps has become a significant force in Australian fashion and social justice. Laura is renowned for her advocacy in Indigenous rights, using the power of fashion to drive impactful campaigns like #FreeTheFlag, which aimed to reclaim the Aboriginal flag from copyright restrictions, and the referendum for a First Nations Voice to Parliament.

Robert Hillard - Consulting Business Leader - Deloitte Asia Pacific https://www.linkedin.com/in/roberthillard/

Rob Hillard leads Deloitte’s Consulting businesses across Asia Pacific including China, Japan, Australia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand and Korea. In this role, he oversees the management and growth of businesses with more than 50,000 professionals. He has previously served as a member of Deloitte’s global board (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited), Chief Transformation Officer for Deloitte Asia Pacific, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer for Deloitte Australia and Managing Partner of Deloitte Consulting in Australia. Rob has spoken and written extensively on topics associated with technology and the digital economy including authoring Information-Driven Business (Wiley 2010), and co-authoring Information Development using MIKE2.0 (Motion 2013). He is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society and is a previous Chair of the Australian Information Industry Association.


Emma Forster - Climate Innovation and Sustainable Development Lead City of Melbourne - https://www.linkedin.com/in/emforster/


Emma brings diverse experience across the creative, tech, and innovation sectors. She has led hundreds of programs and initiatives to support Melbourne’s startup, social impact, and innovation ecosystem. Her work spans public and private sectors, from launching a global tech education startup in Melbourne to roles at Sustainability Victoria’s Circular Economy Business Innovation Centre. Currently, Emma is the Climate Innovation and Sustainable Development Lead at the City of Melbourne, where she’s leading the charge on embedding the SDGs into Council activities and encouraging the community to take local action for global impact. In her time in local government she’s also contributed through the Smart City Office, CityLab and Economic Development departments. A consistent theme throughout her career is using the power of open innovation and collaboration to engage communities in tackling complex, city-scale challenges like climate change and sustainability.
