Event description

✨FREE EVENT✨

SEWtember is being held from Rāhui Pōkeka Huntly to Whāingaroa Raglan, Ngāruawāhia, Gordonton, Matangi, Te Kowhai, and even online, to celebrate all things sewing repair, reuse and slow fashion!

SEW-a-thon:
🚪🌬️ How many door snakes (draught stoppers) can we collectively make in just 3 hours? This is a community wide, "all sewers on deck", challenge!
We'll have all the sewing machines from the Tool Library set up or please BYO machine.
We'll also have mixed fabric off-cuts to choose from.
You can either sew yourself a door snake to takeaway or keep going and contribute to a stash for Community Energy Whāingaroa and their Healthy Homes work

LEARNING STATIONS:

Simultaneously there will be stations set up to learn:

HOW TO - Basic sewing machine maintenance
HOW TO - Thread a sewing machine
HOW TO - Basic stitches and when to use them
HOW TO - Knitting
HOW TO - Darning
HOW TO - Crochet

If you want to learn how to sew, head to the Raglan Community House every Wednesday 2-4pm for their "Learn to Sew" sessions in the basement 🧵🪡
