Sew & Sling - crossbody bags sewing class
Description
These classes are designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that is accessible, affordable, and community-oriented. Participants not only gain a valuable new skill but also connect with others through shared learning experiences. The emphasis is equally on collaboration, community, and personal growth.
Sew & Sling! ✂️
Ready to take your sewing skills up a notch? Come and make your own colourful sling bag!
This is our first advanced beginner sewing class, designed for people who already have some sewing experience and are comfortable using a sewing machine independently. You definitely don’t need to be an expert - but this one isn’t a learn-to-sew-from-scratch class.
Over the duration of the class, we’ll work through making a fully lined sling bag with a zippered front pocket, giving you the chance to build your skills, learn some new techniques and leave with a very cute (and very useful!) handmade bag.
We’ll be making the bag component only - not the strap. This keeps the project achievable within our session (and keeps the class affordable!). It also means you can give an existing bag strap a new life, swap straps between bags, or source one that suits your own style. Your finished bag will have attachment points ready for you to clip your chosen strap straight on.
As always, this is a relaxed, social sewing session. There’s no expectation of perfection - wonky seams, unpicking and asking for help are all part of making things.
This class is for you if you: have used a sewing machine before, can thread and can operate one independently, You’ll be supported through the construction of the bag, so you don’t need to have made anything like this before.
What’s included: sewing machines, fabric and haberdashery for your bag, use of all the equipment you’ll need, step-by-step guidance, and plenty of help along the way.
Just bring yourself (and maybe your favourite existing bag strap if you want to see how it looks!).
Come sew, chat, make something fabulous and sling it over your shoulder. 💖
