Sew With SCRAP: Lined Drawstring Pouches! | Ages 16+
Event description
This workshop is part of our Sewing With SCRAP series! If you’ve never touched a sewing machine or need a refresher, check out Start Sewing with SCRAP: Intro to Home Sewing Machines — click here!
Prerequisite: Start Sewing with SCRAP, or equivalent knowledge. How to thread a home sewing machine, wind and load a bobbin, and select basic straight and zig-zag stitches.
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Sew With SCRAP: Lined Drawstring Pouch!
Build on your ability to operate a home sewing machine, learn new skills, and apply them to a new beginner-level project, a custom, cute drawstring pouch! This pouch is fully lined with a flat, "boxed-out" bottom; it has multiple color customization options throughout its pattern. Finally have that place to store your trinkets, D&D dice, coins, or anything other treasure!
In this workshop, along with building on existing sewing skills, we will:
Translate pattern measurements to fabric
Box out the bottom of a bag
Practice top stitching
Learn to make and attach a bag lining
Make a drawstring casing
Learn POWER of PRESSING!
...and combine all of that into a complete project: your custom drawstring bag!
Lead by sewing nerd Kate (she/her) with SCRAP’s variety of studio sewing machine models. This workshop is a great opportunity to use several styles of different sewing machines before you invest in your own!
For $50, you'll get 3 hours of hands-on instruction!
All tools and materials provided | Ages 16+ (parents must purchase for their children). Students are welcome to bring their own sewing machines.
Location: The new SE SCRAP Education Studio! 619 SE 6th Ave 😊
