Social Enterprise World Forum Roadtrip
Event description
We’re taking the Social Enterprise World Forum on the road! Join us on the bus and make your journey to the Social Enterprise World Forum in Brisbane one you’ll never forget. Connect with fellow founders and leaders in social enterprise space while having a great time on the way to the Social Enterprise World Forum, taking place in Brisbane, September 28-29 2022.
Background:
The Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) is returning to Australia for the first time since 2009, taking place in Brisbane in September.
The Social Enterprise World Forum is the flagship event for the global social enterprise community, providing space for purpose-led people, policymakers, philanthropists, intermediaries and entrepreneurs to connect, learn and be inspired.
As Alexie Seller, CEO of Impact North, has said of attending SEWF, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The world is coming to Australia and it is your chance to get out there and network and learn and be inspired and share your story.”
We want to help local social entrepreneurs in Sydney and NSW make the most of this opportunity. We’ll travel together from Sydney to the Summit in a way that builds community. We’ll use the journey to learn from each other and visit inspiring folks along the way. We’ll arrive briefed, energised, and ready to engage with the global social enterprise community.
Join us on The Social Enterprise Roadtrip!
Why Come on the Bus?
This is a chance to make the Social Enterprise World Forum so much more than a conference. Instead of just flying into Brisbane, travel with a group of founders, social enterprise supporters and sector thought leaders for two days of connecting, learning and preparing to make the most of the Brisbane Summit!
The two-day journey will give you plenty of time to meet and learn from your fellow travellers, facilitated by group activities and conversations on the bus. We will visit several inspiring social enterprises as we travel up the coast and share a memorable meal in Byron Bay on the Tuesday night.
Coming on this journey will equip you to make the most of the SEWF opportunity. Building your community beforehand and having a strong network at the Summit will make it less overwhelming and increase your chances of finding what you need at the event.
The group will be connected through a private WhatsApp group and from facilitated sessions on the bus will understand each other’s priorities at the Summit, so we are all eyes and ears at the event, alerting each other to networking opportunities and key events.

Who is Behind It:
The Social Enterprise Roadtrip is being organised and hosted by Lucy Brotherton, Community Capacity Building Officer - Social Investment at the City of Parramatta, and Tom Dawkins, CEO and Co-Founder of social enterprise StartSomeGood.
We have worked together for many years hosting the Pitch for Good Parramatta program which supports emerging social enterprises in the City of Parramatta.
Building on that work, and StartSomeGood’s extensive portfolio of accelerators and capacity-building programs which support social enterprises, and inspired by the unique opportunity represented by the Social Enterprise World Forum coming to Australia, we began to imagine how to get more out of the experience than the typical conference. This concept is the result.
