Working with sexual harm: building practitioner skills and understanding
Description
This training has been designed to build practitioner knowledge and skill around discussing sex and sexual harm when working with people responsible for harm or those impacted by sexual harm.
With a particular focus on exploring sexual harm in the context of coercive control, this training offers something for anyone working in the domestic and family violence and sexual assault/abuse sectors.

Dr Mardi Wilson
Mardi (she/her) lives in Naarm, on Wurundjeri Country. Over the past decade, Mardi has worked with people responsible for harm and those subject to harm in a Men's Behaviour Change context, and now in a restorative justice context. Mardi has experience with program design and coordination, both for programs supporting victim-survivors and for those working on accountability with those responsible for harm. Mardi's PhD research focused on sexual harm, particularly socio-culturally normalised sexual coercion, and the way that storying such experiences can contribute to validation and healing for victim-survivors. Mardi's book resulting from her research, 'Everyday Coercion', was published by Bloomsbury in January 2025. Mardi has also authored a journal article on men’s use of normalised sexual coercion which was published in The Journal of Sex Research.
Kesti Cooper (Faulkner)
Kesti (she/her) lives on Bundjalung country. Kesti is a qualified Social Worker and DFV Counsellor, with close to a decade of experience working in the field of interpersonal violence and abuse. Kesti has extensive experience working with people responsible for harm, beginning her practice in men's behaviour change programs and more recently working within REVIVE with those responsible & others impacted by sexual harm in a restorative justice context. Alongside her direct practice, Kesti has several years of experience delivering professional training, including training focused on working with adults using family violence and in child protection. Kesti's background across counselling, behaviour change, sexual harm and professional education informs a practice-based and trauma-informed approach to training and facilitation.
