      This specialist workshop is designed for rehabilitation clinicians, psychosexual therapists, social workers, case managers, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists seeking to integrate sexual health into rehabilitation settings for individuals living with neurological injury or disability.

      By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

      • compose a definition of orgasm that is not dependent on brain-genital nerve connection;
      • explain the body’s sexual responses to a person with a Neurological injury/ disability;
      • explain five factors that can affect sexual response in someone with an Neurological injury/ disability
      • make specific suggestions for enhancing sexual pleasure and satisfaction;
      • distinguish between a psychogenic and reflex genital response;
      • predict the likely level of genital functioning based on the level of complete SCI;
      • describe ways to compensate for changes in sexual function;
      • explain two methods of sperm retrievable (vibro-massage and rectal probe ejaculation);
      • describe what type of permission, information, and specific suggestions most people with disabilities would need to know about their sexuality;
      • apply knowledge of sexuality, Neurological injury/ disability and sexual interview and assessment in a role play with a another workshop participant;
      • critique their own performance in a sexual interview and assessment role play;

      • Dr Mitchell Tepper, a well-respected and world-renowned sexologist in the disability community and the medical rehabilitation field who has been living a full life with spinal cord injury for over 40 years.
      • Candice Care-Unger, an award-winning clinician-researcher, specialist social worker and clinical sexologist.
