About Formidable Shadows: A Foster Youth Journey

Beginning with an exploration of shadows cast by parental figures, childhood and adolescence, Formidable Shadows: A Foster Youth Journey culminates with AC the Poet coming into their voice through the healing process and discovery of self. This debut collection of poetry is a testament to surviving through systemic barriers of poverty, foster care, neglect and generational trauma. From the perspective and interpretation of the author at the time of events revealed, this book captures the large emotions of a child, the search for identity as a teen, and emotional regulation in adulthood. With this story comes the hope that others will learn to process their shadows and find the light within their pain.
