Shakedown Cruise

Historically, the first outing of every season was OBC's "shakedown cruise" to a nearby location. The trip was held just before Labour Day as a trial run before going further afield over the long weekend.

As part of our 70th anniversary celebrations, we're reviving this tradition, and adding a twist.

The cruise will include a poker-run / rally-like competition, followed by a BBQ back at the club.

• Participants should meet at the clubroom for a briefing at 10am

• Three Haines Hunter boats will be positioned at various points on the harbour - not too far out. These positions will be shared at the briefing.

• The goal is to rendezvous with two or three of these Haines Hunter boats and collect a card (the cards will have random numbers on them).

• From lunchtime at the clubroom there will be a free sausage sizzle and the bar will be open.

• As participants return, they will hand in their cards.

• At 2pm the prize winners will be announced.

• The prizes will be relatively light-hearted, including some the new OBC clothing.

• Prize categories include highest score, closest to a mystery number, and some other fun categories.

• Rain/wind date. We'll go ahead even if the weather isn't perfect, but if it is going to be too uncomfortable we'll let members know.
